We are breathing deeply in a time of intensity and forgetting— a time when many feel fragmented, oversaturated, and far from what is essential. Rather than turning outward for answers, we feel the pull to turn inward, to listen more closely, and to gather in ways that restore coherence and care. There is something ancient and simple that happens when we step away from the noise and come back to the warmth of shared presence – to sit by the fire, to share song and silence, to make space for prayer, grief, laughter, and remembrance. This pilgrimage is an invitation to return to the hearth – within and without – to reconnect with your essence, to remember your innate sovereignty, and to orient the compass of your life toward what is most alive, true, and meaningful for you.
In times of great change, even a small field of grounded presence can become an island of coherence – a place where clarity emerges and where something wiser than effort begins to lead.
We are called to deepen our roots as a way of standing more fully in our lives— anchored, resourced, and in right relationship. To do this, we return to the center – to Chavín de Huántar, a place purpose-built for pilgrimage, resting between jungle and mountain, two rivers, earth and sky. Here, we enter the living lineage of the land, the mythos and medicine of the ancients, and the remembering of what it means to live in right relation— with ourselves, with one another, and with our beloved Earth. You are warmly invited to walk this path with us. The ancient civilization of Chavin holds a central place in the Andean cactus medicine tradition. Here, the sacred cactus—known locally as Tsunaq and more widely as Huachuma or San Pedro—has been used for thousands years as a transformative medicine.  Chavin de Huantar was a root of sacred Andean cosmology, a place of initiation, and a temple devoted to knowledge, wisdom, prayer and inner alchemy. Over 10 days, you will explore consciousness, address inner obstructions, and deepen your connection with yourself and life itself. Through ceremonies, offerings, plant walks, and guided integration, you will engage in prayer, healing, and self-discovery.

In Andean thought, Yanantin describes:

The Temple

Chavín de Huántar
Chavin de Huantar, “The Center,” stands as a testament to the sacred and mystical properties of Tsunaq. Built over 4,000 years ago, the temple’s plazas and subterranean chambers were designed to enhance spiritual energy, provide spaces for retreat, and support initiation through the balancing and union of polarity. During our retreat, you will:

Held by lineage & devotion

Maestra Cecilia

A revered Quechua medicine woman, Grandmother Cecilia has dedicated over a decade to serving Tsunaq medicine with integrity, reverence, and grace. She is a wisdom keeper of the Chavin region and brings ancestral knowledge, expertise, and a heart-centered approach to ceremony.

Raul

Cecilia’s son, an anthropologist and gifted musician, Raul enriches ceremonies with his music, storytelling, and presence. His artistic expression embodies the spiritual connection cultivated through Tsunaq.

Aaryn

For nearly twenty years, Aaryn has walked a path rooted in plant medicine, somatic healing, and inner work. His life and practice have been shaped by profound initiatory seasons and spiritual emergence that deepened his capacity to sit with the full spectrum of the experience of life. He holds training in Craniosacral and Polarity Therapy, has studied the Yew Mysteries, and has spent almost 2 decades in relationship with plant medicine traditions in Peru. Over the years, he has held plant circles, supported clients through one-on-one sessions and consultations, and facilitated retreat in Chavín de Huantar, staying connected with a living Huachuma lineage in Peru. These threads weave together in his offerings devoted to helping others reconnect with their essence.

Itinerary

10 Days of Pilgrimage

Day 1

Arrival, Welcome & Orientation

  • Pick-up in Huaraz (airport or hotel)
  • Transport to Chavín de Huántar
  • Arrival and settling into accommodations

  • Opening circle to ground, arrive, and set intentions
Day 2

First Ceremony

  • Morning rest and gentle preparation
  • First Tsunaq ceremony
Day 3

Coca Leaf Circle & Andean Cosmovision

  • Chacchado circle with Mamá Coca (traditional coca leaf sharing)
  • Teachings on Andean cosmovision, with a focus on Chavín lineage and cosmology
  • Integration circle
Day 4

Hike to Piruru Hirka

  • Guided walk/hike to Piruru Hirka
  • Time for prayer, offerings, and communion with the land
  • Return for rest and grounding
Day 5

Second Ceremony

  • Morning rest and gentle preparation
  • Second Tsunaq ceremony
Day 6

Rest & Integration Day

Do I need experience with plant medicine?
No. This retreat is appropriate for both newcomers and experienced participants.
Comfortable clothing for ceremony and hiking, warm layers, journal, personal items, and sturdy walking shoes.
Yes. All participants must disclose medical history, current medications, and relevant health considerations.
Groups are limited to a maximum of 12 participants.
Highly recommended for your safety and peace of mind.
